Urgent appointments during opening hours

Emergency dental care in Accra, at Spintex

If a toothache is keeping you awake, a tooth has broken, or you have swelling, contact Amoah Dental at Friendly Mall on Spintex New Road. We accommodate urgent dental appointments during opening hours. Call before travelling so we can discuss the problem and confirm when you can be seen.

When to go straight to hospital: Difficulty breathing or swallowing, heavy bleeding that will not stop, or a serious face or jaw injury needs immediate emergency care. Severe swelling in the mouth, swelling around the eye or changes in vision also need immediate attention. Go to the nearest hospital emergency department. Do not wait for a WhatsApp reply.

Dental problems to contact us about promptly

  • Tooth pain that is severe, persistent or affecting sleep and eating.
  • Swelling around a tooth or gum, especially with fever or feeling unwell.
  • A broken tooth, or a lost filling or crown that leaves the tooth painful or sharp.
  • Pain or bleeding after recent dental treatment that concerns you.

A knocked-out adult tooth is time-sensitive. Seek immediate dental care; if we cannot see you promptly, seek another available urgent dental provider. Do not wait for our next opening day.

You do not need to know the name of the problem before calling. Tell us when it started and whether there is swelling, bleeding or an injury.

What happens at an urgent appointment

The dentist will ask about your symptoms, medical history and any medicines you take, then examine the affected area. An X-ray may be recommended if it will help identify the cause. We have dental imaging available in the clinic; the dentist decides which image, if any, is appropriate.

Once the cause is clearer, we explain what can be done that day and whether further appointments are needed. Depending on the findings, care may involve a repair, treatment for infection, root canal treatment or an extraction. Some problems need referral. An urgent visit may be the first stage of treatment rather than the complete solution.

Tell us if you are anxious or have had a difficult dental experience. We can discuss the examination and pain-management options before treatment begins.

Before you arrive

Call with a brief description of the problem. Bring a list of medicines and allergies, and any recent dental records or X-rays you already have. Tell the dentist if you are pregnant or have a medical condition that may affect treatment.

While waiting for dental care, choose soft foods and avoid chewing on the painful tooth. Ask a pharmacist or clinician which pain relief is suitable for you, and follow the directions. Do not place aspirin directly on the tooth or gum. Temporary relief does not replace assessment of the cause.

Fees and next steps

Ask the team about the urgent consultation fee when you call. The cost of treatment depends on the problem and any imaging or procedures needed. We explain the recommended care and estimated costs before you decide how to proceed.
